John Lovering

After his father's death in 1668, his mother married Ezekiel Knight.John was apprenticed out to Abraham Tilton as a carpenter on April 4,1672 in Wells, ME and served for ten years (Name shown as "Lovewell"on Indenture Agreement). His master took him to Ipswich, MA where heremained and married Hannah Kilham. John bought land in Ipswich andhad twelve children, all of whom were baptized in the Wenham, MAChurch. Although some books indicate that he married Love Parsonsas a second wife, the Essex probate records indicate that he was stillmarried to Hannah at the time of his death, as the settlement of thewidow's dower gives "our honored mother Hannah the east end of John'sdwelling house" in 1723/24.
