Samuel was born in Kingston and removed to Salisbury prior to theRevolutionary War. He settled on the southwest slope of the hillnamed for him, "Loverin's Hill". The present house there was built in1805. He enlisted in the Revolutionary War and served until its end.About 1805, with Thomas Chase, he built a sawmill on a small brook onhis meadow.
