1. Hans Huber, deputy sheriff of Oberkulm, granted fief there by LordHans Frederick van Hallwyl. There is a document in the state archivesin Bern, Switzerland, dated 6 Dec 1621, to which is attached armorialinsignia of Hans Hubere: a millwheel on a shield, black on silver.Hans Huber was a descendant of Burchard dictus Hubere, who acquired afief in 1268 in the valley of Wyna River, Oberkulm, from Sir Ludwigvan Liebegg. Burchard was son of Bertoldus Hubere, who was born about1185 and who probably emigrated from Burgundy when French King PhilipAugustus seized the land of property owners and barons. Bertoldus hadat least three sons: Nicholas, b. abt. 1812, consul of Berne,1253-1259, Jacob, b. abt. 1230, and Burchard, b. abt. 1222. ---Sources: 1. McLean, Hulda Hoover.
